HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO KEEP
YOUR FAMILY TOGETHER?

Are you a parent struggling with a child who is rebellious, obstinate, withdrawn, alienated, or depressed?

Is the situation tearing your family apart?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

When our child was six he did not like school. When he was eight he became rebellious over homework. By the time he was ten he had become completely withdrawn and alienated. We realized that if we did not take action we would lose him.

IT SEEMED AS IF THINGS WERE HOPELESS!

An alienated and withdrawn child is feeling pain inside. The child needs guidance to help release this hurt through appropriate channels. If we are unable to reach him/her then we can expect the child to seek his/her own path of escape.

We needed to find a way to prevent those possible routes of escape. They include, but are not limited to, 1) use of drugs 2) alcoholism 3) join a gang and become involved in criminal activity 4) commit suicide. All of these activities are seemingly simpler means to avoid life’s realities. These possibilities played on our minds and brought out a destructive fear that led to dissension and turmoil within our home. You see, our problem was not limited to our ten year old son. We also had a seven year old daughter with the same characteristics as our son.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO SAVE YOUR CHILDREN?

Saving the children is only half of the problem. The situation has a tendency to put a strain on the marriage as well. Parents will go through a range of behaviors and emotions that include denial and ignoring thesituation, blaming the other spouse, blaming teachers and doctors, and even blaming the child and treating the child as an outcast or misfit.

A STORY OF TRIUMPH

It was an unconventional, yet very effective, strategy that brought this family back together. It was as simple as creating a family quest, living out the adventure, and savoring the enriching experience.

BE INSPIRED TO RECONNECT WITH
YOUR LOVED ONES!!

Let us share our adventure with you. Introducing; “Our Life on the Run: A Story of Running 50 Marathons in 50 States—A Family Quest” -- You are invited to come along on this journey and witness just exactly what happened that allowed this family to reconnect.

“This is not simply another “jock story”. It is the story of a rather typical American Family, and this work, if we read it carefully, teaches us many, many lessons. These are just ordinary Americans, not much different than your family or mine. They have their troubles and trials. Yet, this family has actually done something out of the ordinary…”
Don Blankenship, the Ozarks

“Keesler’s writing style is simple and direct and his anecdotes are told with a forthright warmth and good nature that makes a reader feel as if he’s the nice fellow next door.
This is a little book that sneaks up on you in surprising ways and leaves you with a good feeling about fatherhood and fellowship”
Nelson Aspen “Author/Journalist” Los Angeles, CA

I have absolutely no interest in a running story. Why should I think this one to by any different?

Not to worry. You will quickly discover the author probably has less of an interest in running than you do. Running gives the story a defined time line and an element of humor. However, the true essence of this story is family dynamics. Read what these people had to say.

“You have to read this book. I have to admit, when “a little bird” recommended that I read it, I was not at all interested in the subject matter. Marathons? People actually write books about running? But I gave this book a try, and I have to say this….I was hooked from the first sentence. This book was about so much more than running, and I would find myself laughing out loud at times, and with tears streaming down my cheeks a few minutes later.” Jackie, Munford, TN

“When my husband told me what the story was about I thought to myself; “boring”. There is nothing about running that interests me. I stand corrected. Mr. Keesler you have got a winner! What a wonderful story of family togetherness!”
Nancy Hoppel, Streamwood, IL

HOW DID THIS FAMILY, CLOSE TO FALLING APART, BECOME A FAMILY OF BEST FRIENDS?

The answer lies in the dynamics of their quest. The book is the story of the journey they embarked on. The bonding and reconnection took place before they learned that their son had a rare neurological affliction called “Asperger syndrome” which is commonly referred to as a high functioning form of autism. This family found themselves enjoying one another’s company on long road trips in a van, telling stories around campfires, meeting long lost relatives, while visiting every corner of this great nation. It was within these types of experiences, away from home, that allowed them to get to know and understand each other.

“It is the family connection aspect that really elevates this book. In a no-nonsense way, without a hint of self pity, we learn that both of the Keesler’s children came into this world “wired” differently from the average child, resulting in difficulties with learning, both academic and social varieties.” C. McCallister, Michigan

“I feel as though you’ve shared something quite personal and what a super job you’ve done. The book was an easy-going, entertaining, captivating, and inspiring read. Thanks for sharing all of those neat moments and days.” Maggie Warner, The Woodlands, TX

“If this book doesn’t blast you or your family members out of the arm chair or away from the TV or video games- nothing will! What’s more: It proves how one person’s goal can turn into a fun-filled activity for the entire family”. Colin Dopson, author “Overweight Planet”
